Lorne has been a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda since 1967. He is originally from Detroit where he studied with Yogananda's direct disciple Yogacharya J. Oliver Black, (pictured above) from whom he received Kriya Yoga initiation in 1968. In 1970, while serving with the United States Marine Corps in Hawaii, he was able to study with another direct disciple of the master, Yogacharya Bernard Cole. Some years later, after graduating from Wayne State University, and while living in Sacramento California, he met Swami Kriyananda, (J. Donald Walters) the well-known Yogananda disciple and founder of Ananda. Lorne spent the next 15 years living and working in the Ananda ashrams in California. After receiving extensive training he moved to Michigan to help develop the work of the Yogananda meditation tradition in his home state. Lorne is an ordained minister of the Ananda Self-realization order. Home Page | Meditation Classes | Sunday Services | Chanting | Ananda.org |
