  • Kirtan: Yoga of the Heart with Ananda Sangha
Chanting is one of the major elements in what is called "bhakti yoga" or the yoga of the heart. Gatherings dedicated to chanting are called "kirtans" in the original Sanskrit. Chanting is wonderful for awakening the love, devotion, and concentration of the heart and mind that is needed for deep inner experience. Chanting can carry us to a place of quiet stillness.
Usually held on the third Saturday of each month, 7:30 – 8:30 PM
Also on Saturday Dec. 7th, 7:30 – 8:30 PM with Nayaswami Pranaba Hansen
    FREE (donations are appreciated)

  • The Energization Exercises of Paramhansa Yogananda
    Instructor: Karl Ericson

The whole purpose of true exercise is to awaken the inner source of energy which we have ignored throughout our lives.
    — Paramhansa Yogananda

During a class of about 30 minutes, the intent of these specific energization exercises will be explained, demonstrated, and experienced. The class will then be led through the entire set of 39 individual exercises that, once familiar with the routine, usually takes between 10-12 minutes to practice. This will then be followed by a brief period of meditation. Time will be reserved for questions.
    Saturday, 6/29/13, 3:00–4:00 PM $10.00

Following the meditation there will be a short inspiring talk, based on scriptural readings of the East and West. We end with a brief healing prayer and song. You can sit yoga-style on the floor or on a chair. All are welcome.

Also highly recommened is a series of Meditation Lessons that can lead to training in the most effective of meditation techniques: Kriya Yoga. There are some excellent books on meditation written by J. Donald Walters (also known as Swami Kriyananda).

. . . Ultimately, A seed cannot suddenly become a tree. The seed will grow if it is watered regularly. That watering process, for a devotee, is daily meditation, constant practice of the presence of God, and devotion. –S. Kriyananda
