|ONE OF THE MOST important benefits of these classes is simply the opportunity to get back together and experience the support of group meditation. Regularly practicing with a group is an invaluable aid in keeping meditation alive. if you’re around people who are interested in meditation, and building a meditation practice, you are much more likely to feel enthusiastic about meditation.
The path of yoga-meditation is a full system for better living, promoting good physical health, as well as “inner,” spiritual health. Each of these classes will begin with a short period of easy yoga movements thereby getting the body and mind prepared for effective silent meditation. Then meditation practice will begin with yoga-style chants – using the power of sound to relax the body further and focus the mind with deep inner concentration.
Following the meditation I’ll do a short class on various of the many yoga programs for over-all personal growth, soul-happiness, and spiritual awakening. Our studies will use examples from the inner aspects of eastern and western faith traditions. Yoga has been called the “science of religion” because even though its goals are ultimately profoundly spiritual, it is always down to earth, practical, and based on common sense and real experience.
