Amidst Life's Storms

Whether the world you live in is very private or includes the dramas on the stage of history, who can avoid the chaos and confusion and conflict of these times? How can you avoid the stress and fear-induced consequences of both individual and mass uncertainty?

"Yoga" is spreading across all lands to bring our souls practical and immediate access to inner peace, courage and wisdom. "Yoga" is far more than body stretching techniques: yoga is an attitude; a way of life; a realization born of awakening of heart, mind and soul.

  •   Time-tested techniques for stilling the mind and body
  •   Tools such as affirmation and introspection for clarifying your goals
  •   Ways to be a cause rather than an effect
  •   Ways to seek the company of like-minded souls

Kirtan: Yoga of the Heart

Saturday May 6th  6:00-7:30pm

Ananda Ferndale

Do you want to find a shortcut to deep meditation? Swami Kriyananda explains that many people have the wrong idea about meditation – it doesn’t have to only be about “focusing the mind” or “calming the thoughts” — an effort which, when applied with tension is impossible! Concentration and calmness come naturally when we calm and harmonize the feelings of the heart. The heart holds the key to calming the mind!

Nothing accomplishes that more effectively, enjoyably, and quickly than chanting. It’s why Paramhansa Yogananda said, “On the spiritual path, chanting is half the battle.”

Join us for a devotional kirtan featuring the chants of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda. Your heart will soar, your mind will become calm and focused – and best of all, while chanting with one-pointed devotion you’ll experience your soul being lifted into God’s loving, blissful presence.

As Kriyananda writes, “Chants that have been spiritualized, particularly by great saints, have a heightened power to inspire whoever sings them.”

Purification Ceremony & Sunday Service

Sunday May 7th

Purification Ceremony: 9:00am - 9:45am

Sunday Service and Festival of Light: 10:00am - 11:30am

Ananda East Lansing
2025 Abbot Road, Suite 400
East Lansing, MI 48823

The Purification Ceremony, offers all participants the opportunity to write down on a small piece of paper something of which they wish to be purified, receive a blessing, then drop the paper into a small fire. This brief, yet powerful ceremony concludes with a short fire ceremony, complete with the chanting of traditional Vedic mantras.

Sunday Service is drawn from the ancient meditation tradition of the East and the mystical traditions of Christ, with scriptural readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, chanting, a brief period of meditation, inspirational talk, and a beautiful ceremony called A Festival of Light.

The essence of the Festival of Light ceremony has been passed down from ancient times...with poetry, prose, and song, expressing the soul's journey, first away from, and then back to its home in God. We affirm our soul's journey through time and space toward realization of our Oneness in Spirit.

Once you’ve tasted the benefits of meditation, you will always find room for it in your life. Meditation is an attitude; a way of life; it is always with you.

In this course, take away a menu of relaxing and energizing ‘snacks’ that you can use in as little as five minutes wherever and whenever you require.

The core concentration meditation technique we offer was taught by Paramhansa Yogananda who came to America in 1920 and who is known throughout the world for his now classic story, “Autobiography of a Yogi.” This course is open to everyone regardless of affiliation or belief.
